As we walk through this journey of BEYOND, we are excited about the opportunity and the challenge to examine what it means to give God our first and best through our generosity. To help us do that, we are providing a commitment card.
Whether you are new to this journey, staying faithful through it or deepening your commitment of generosity the Lord has called us to, pray through your commitment and discern your next step of obedience in generosity. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
I’m New to Shelter Cove. Am I a part of this initiative?
Going BEYOND is about the vision for our church and our personal discipleship in giving as followers of Jesus. We believe that the local church is one of the most compelling missions to give towards, and we would really love for you to make us your home and join us in going BEYOND. If you are ready for it, this is a perfect time for you to put a stake in the ground and make this your church! We want you to join in on this journey of living out the mission God has for us as a church, and you as a believer.
What are you asking me to do?
First and foremost, we are asking you to pray and seek God’s guidance on what He is asking of you. Prepare your heart to hear Him, and then listen to what He says. Our goal is 100% engagement – that means you are fully committed to the Mission & Vision of Shelter Cove and are asking God to take you beyond what you can imagine in your relationship with Him as you committedly seek His Word and will. If you haven’t already, join a Cove Group. Talk with your family about what it means for you to engage in Jesus’ mission more fully. We are asking that we ALL make a sacrificial commitment through our generosity as we reach together to fulfill God’s mission and vision for us. We are asking that our level of faith and obedience do not stay the same – because God is not done with us yet. Finally, we are asking that you prepare yourself to be amazed at what God is going to do! It is an awesome God that we serve. He is moving in huge ways, and we anticipate an unprecedented impact from our collective commitments. Please mark your calendar for our Commitment Weekend on April 5th & 6th, and prepare to experience a life-changing worship service that will forever be remembered as a defining moment for our church and for our own faith.
What if I am in debt right now, or I don’t have a job? Am I still supposed to give?
We believe that God calls us to action in times of hardship just as much as He does in times of abundance. This looks different for every person. BEYOND is about a heart surrender and trusting the leading of the Holy Spirit in your life – something that is only accomplished by seeking the Lord and responding to His call and His Word. That may mean that you are challenged to sell things, pick up odd jobs, or even to trust God in faith by making a commitment that you don’t quite know how to fulfill right now but that you believe God will provide for as you seek for ways to sacrifice and work towards that commitment. We would love for 100% of us to be a part of BEYOND so that we can all support, love, encourage, and pray for one another through this spiritually-stretching season at Shelter Cove.
Is this giving more than my regular tithes and offerings?
During this two-year period, every contribution to God through BEYOND is a contribution to our generosity initiative. This means that everything from our General Ministry budget to our Kingdom Impact events, our mission work locally and globally, and our campus expansion projects will all be funded through the BEYOND initiative. So every single dollar given within the next two years will fuel this life-changing mission.
Are there additional ways besides cash that I can GO BEYOND in my giving?
Be creative as you explore ways you and your family can give towards the BEYOND campaign. You might have some stocks, property, or even some stored resources that God has blessed you with in the past that He just might be calling you to give out of during this time. Please contact our Finance Manager, Jessi Holzman, at (209) 567-3200 if you have questions about non cash generosity, and we would be happy to help you give in this way.
How long is my commitment?
We are asking that everyone make a two-year commitment, which is 24 months of giving. The fulfillment period for your commitment will begin with our BEYOND Commitment Weekend on April 5th & 6th, 2025, and will culminate in April 2027.
